June 1 Sharp Remarks

June 1

May was the most amazing month for me. I' m undecided if to celebrate it or just give a great sigh of relief.

God speaks in the most amazing of ways.  I was honored to officiate three Memorials.  Blessed that all were believers.   One I observed intense family love and the remarkable impact he had on the lives of family, another was again great family love and deep faith.  Both of these were very traditional in theme and conduct.  I have, to me, important and fulfilling connections to the entire extended family.  And will continue to minister to them as long as I am allowed.  God is good!

The third funeral was entirely different.  Very casual. At a park on the  bay front.  Very diverse  crowd.   Mourners arrived in high end cars, pickups and motorcycles.  Rock and contemporary music was the theme.   Yet speakers all gave testimony to the deceased's impact on their lives including her faith.  A single Mom who loved her son and gave her all to provide for him and his future.  God is good!

God answered prayer in May when we were able to call Charlie Hahn and his wife Lawanna to lead our Music Program. Charlie is a long time friend reaching back to somewhere around 1979-1980.   Charlie and Lawanna will be great additions to our ministry at NHBC.    God is good.

I saw a host of our family who have northern residences "head out".  Happy for them to be returning to their roots, yet sad that they will be out of our presence.  But we have the hope of their return this fall and memories of their faithfulness and support of our work to sustain over the summer months.  God is good.

May is graduation time.   I was blessed to attend three commencement exercises.  990 graduates received their diploma and a simultaneous launch into the real world. I was blessed to have two granddaughters and one from our church at these three ceremonies.  All primed and eager to start the next leg of their journey.  All continuing their educational sojourn. All are believers and seek God's guidance.  God is good.

May contained days of my greatest spiritual challenge.  God's word was proved to me in both the positive sense and the negative view.  I believe that I am stronger in the ministry and have greater faith and trust in God.   God is good.

God is opening doors for ministry  for New Hope and for myself.  I pray daily for his revelation and guidance.   I approach each door with enthusiasm and curiosity.  Seeking God's presence and direction.  God has entrusted us with great opportunity and with a corresponding responsibility.    I pray that we are found adequate and faithful.  Each day and each encounter grows my understanding and view of the New Testament church and the body of believers that constitute that fellowship.  God is good.

I am so happy to be at NHBC!

Serving Him
Serving You.

I thank God for a good day yesterday.    Great weather for us to gather and worship. Great time of Worship and the evening Bible Study was as usual stimulating with strong discussion and imput from all.

As friends and family make their way North our attendance is still strong. We will miss this special group of friends that we grow closer to each and every year.  We pray for safe journeys and a refreshing Summer.  Then just like citzens of old we start to look North waiting their safe return.

We are blessed with a unique bunch of "snowbirds"!  Unique in the sense that they get involved.  They become valuable contributors in every facet of our ministry.  I could take up considerable space listing their impact but I think I will just mention one.  The one that no doubt is the most desired by God, the Kingdom and this small church......Their faithfulness.  They are an example to all.

We took another step forward in our ministry at New Hope yesterday.   We elected five new Deacons.  It is exciting to see men step forward and say "yes Lord, use me."  Those elected will bring a wealth of Christian love and experience to help build the quality and the quanity of ministry we are striving for.

Our Deacon Servants are:

  • Gene (Rita) Bicknell
  • Levi (Joyce) Cox
  • Leland (Beth) Crawford
  • Bill (Janet) Crooks
  • Gary (Lorna) Putman
  • Jim (Lynne) Thomas
  • Carl (Mildred) Vanover

Pray for them as we organize for mnistry.  Pray that they will grasp and fulfill the New Testament doctrine of Servant Leaders.  Lift up their spouses as they have a new dimension added to their walk with the Lord.

Jennifer has delivered since my last blog.    Beautiful daughter Alexandra Love.   Finally we get a girl.  The boys have been great but we needed an addition to the gentler side. smiley

I am praying for a strong turn out both from our church family and the neighborhood community in support of National Day of Prayer on May 7th.  We will open the sanctuary from 10:00AM TO 7:00 PM.    Stop by.... join us in corporate prayer for a moment or for the day.  Our Nation needs a renewed relationship with God.  If you can't stop by take time from you day to pray for our Nation, Our President and elected officials, our troops, our first responders including most of all our military.  Military not just the troops in harms way but those leaders residing in the Pentagon and other safe havens behind the lines.

Pray that God reveals to our Nation the best way to cope with rising radical Islam.   Pray for the persecuted Church.   Pray for our missionaries who are under attack around the world.....yes, including here at home.

PRAY     PRAY      PRAY    PRAY     PRAY

Blessings and Regards,

Easter this year was such a spiritual blessing.   I appreciate all the church family that lent a hand to make it so.  The Good Friday prayer service, work day Saturday, setting up and taking down for the outdoor sunrise service, all the special Music, the making of sausage gravy (yum) and handing out the special Easter Bags for outreach.   What a week end as we celebrated and serve our risen Christ.  I am so happy to be at New Hope.   Worshipping with my spiritual family is so energizing.   Serving and celebrating the Lord's Supper is an exciting part of my ministry.

This week on Friday we will baptize Kelly Carpenter before she launches out on the next phase of her journey through life.  This time she will be walking with the King of Kings by her side.

Sunday we will join with Lorie and dedicate her son Caden to our God and that we committ with her to raise him in a God filled enviroment.   That he truly becomes a man of God.

Praying for God's peace in a broken world.
