SharpRemarks November 19 Sarasota Florida

SharpRemarks

Sarasota, Florida

November the 19th 2018

As is the case many times, when preparing a sermon I believe the greatest impact is on me.  So it is only natural preaching from Psalms 103 that I would count my blessings.

At 77 and Approaching 45 years  as a Christian the first blessing has to be a no brainer and that is my Salvation resulting in my relationship with God my creator and Jesus my Savior.

God has blessed me with his forgiveness and acceptance. HIS  faithfulness and All that goes with it is truly awesome.

God has blessed me in so many ways in the places HE has allowed me to serve.  The people I have served with and the churches they were a part of.   Everyone was a role model for me to observe and emulate or not.  😊   I have been blessed through them and by them.  I have been forgiven by them and forgave some of them.  I have learned from each and everyone of them. Living and serving in God’s Kingdom has been a journey beyond imagination.

New Hope Baptist Church.    What a blessing.   This small fellowship of believers is so impressive and inspirational. Their generous hearts and willing hands are truly representative of God’s changing grace.   So few who do so much.  A blessing.

I truly believe in the spiritual priority of things that God is first, Family second and Church third.

My family ………….what a blessing.   From the commitment that Pat and I made on the beach in 1973 to Thanksgiving 2018.   What a trip. I have also made a personal promise to God and claimed his promises in scripture.  He has kept his better than I have kept mine.  From the two of us to 23 in our family now and each and everyone a blessing. And more to come.  Carrington is next 😊 What blessings. Each and everyone.

Count your Blessing each and everyone of you.  And a Blessed Thanksgiving to all who read this scribbling.

Now read some real writing.  David’s Blog.  😊

BLESS THE LORD

Bless the LORD, O my soul, And all that is within me, bless His holy name. {2} Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget none of His benefits; {3} Who pardons all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases; {4} Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion; {5} Who satisfies your years with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle. {6} The LORD performs righteous deeds And judgments for all who are oppressed. {7} He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the sons of Israel. {8} The LORD is compassionate and gracious, Slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness. {9} He will not always strive with us, Nor will He keep His anger forever. {10} He has not dealt with us according to our sins, Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. {11} For as high as the heavens are above the earth, So great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him. {12} As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. {13} Just as a father has compassion on his children, So the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him. {14} For He Himself knows our frame; He is mindful that we are but dust. {15} As for man, his days are like grass; As a flower of the field, so he flourishes. {16} When the wind has passed over it, it is no more, And its place acknowledges it no longer. {17} But the lovingkindness of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children's children, {18} To those who keep His covenant And remember His precepts to do them. {19} The LORD has established His throne in the heavens, And His sovereignty rules over all. {20} Bless the LORD, you His angels, Mighty in strength, who perform His word, Obeying the voice of His word! {21} Bless the LORD, all you His hosts, You who serve Him, doing His will. {22} Bless the LORD, all you works of His, In all places of His dominion; Bless the LORD, O my soul! Psalm 103:1-22 (NASB)

Do you have beautiful feet?

Isaiah 52:7 ESV

How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.”

One of Satan's most viscious and evil lies is that "it is all about you".

This lie is so self serving that it is powerfully easy to accept.

God would have all of us (his children) join Jesus ( His son) in the war to reconcile the world.

Beautiful feet carry Good News.

So many of us miss the mark.   How are your feet.

Pray that God gives you the boldness to tell someone about  your salvation experience.

For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Luke 11:10 (NKJV

I would like to  specifically pray with you .   Please send an email  to me at  bob.srq@outlook.com.

I will pray with you for the boldness to share Christ.

I will pray that God prepares the way and gives you the boldness to go.

Grace and Blessings

Bob

SharpRemarks September 1

September 1, 2018
Sarasota, Florida

Greetings,

This morning  as I read ""My Utmost for HIS Highest" by Oswald Chambers my thoughts turned to my understanding of Holy.  Isn't is interesting how our understanding of Christian and Religious words can  get skewered.  Oswalds thoughts on Holy turned me to self examination which no doubt was his intention.

His use of 1 Peter 1.161 was a good choice because God makes it crystal clear.  Makes it difficult for folks to misunderstand what God is telling us.  I use WordSearch 12 in my studies so I pulled up the parallel  Bible feature to see what the translators did with this word Holy. I like the use of the word "be" in the translations rather then the choice of 'shall' by some.   I believe God's purpose for this statement is better expressed with "be"    Not only is it a direct communication of an instruction but the goal of my over all condition.   I am to be Holy.   It is the discription of my current relationship with God and the activities of my Life.

Those of you who know me better than most know my understanding of Philippians 2.12.     Philippians 2.12  joins with Luke 9.23 and helps provide the internal push for my service and ministry as I strive to be more like the image  of God. (think creation)  To be Holy!

Oswald concludes today's devotion with this statement "Holiness is not simply what God gives me, but what God has given me that is being exhibited in my life."2

God's Grace has given me my spiritual salvation. Accepting that God has set me aside to a specific calling. (think Vocation)   Because of that I am expected to grow in Holiness and live and walk in the purpose that has been established for my life.

Grace and Blessings

SharpRemarks April 2018

Greetings,

I am excited about our church calendar.  For a "small" church we seem to keep busy.

One of our upcoming events has captured my focus.  Spiritual Gifts.  Probably the most misunderstood and abused of all scripture doctrine that relates to our Christian Walk.

I believe God  has called me to a disciplining ministry.  Over the years that has involved me in several roles for me to accomplish the task God has set before me.

For that endeavor God as endowed me with specific spiritual gifts.  You may question my effective use of those gifts, but I will affirm that their presence has embolded me to involve myself in the ministry opportunities that have been placed before me.

I am persuaded that without my belief and trust in those gifts I would have become a pew potato like so many of my brothers and sisters in Christ. Some have commented on my level of activity at my age but again I credit God's use of my life to that longevity.

Spiritual gifts are not some mystical hocus pocus but the result of our belief, trust and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and his promise of the indwelling presence of  God's Holy Spirit.

The presence of God‘s Holy Spirit is what empowers us to work in the kingdom. The Holy Spirit is invaluable and plays a role in our understanding, our inspiration, our motivation, our strength, and our perseverance.  Just as the Scriptures have informed us the Holy Spirit truly is our helper.  Our relationship with the Holy Spirit is spiritual and intentional.

It is incumbent upon us to do all that we can to understand our relationship and the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

And for that very reason I’m very hopeful regarding the study We were about to embark upon “The Journey to Discovering and Using your Spiritual Gifts!”

On my heart

ON Tuesday 8/1 I received a request to provide a one hour meeting for the Gardens of Venice on Wednesday 8/2 at 10:00 AM.

Eight people answered the call to provide ministry to resident of this facility.

Obviously their hearts were ready and on very short notice they prepared music, testimony and equipment.  Arrived before 9:30 and immediately began to visit and fellowship with the residents.

God will use their efforts for the Kingdom

Thanks go out to:

  • James

  • Glen
  • Dorothy
  • Suzette
  • Gregg
  • Scott
  • Pat

It was a joy to see Ministry and Discipleship.
